Restorative Yoga with Stacey Williams Sunday, October 29, 4:30-6:00pm, $12 members/$15 non-members This is the time of year when the fire element dominates. When we are in balance during this time, we can embody the inherent passion, warmth, and golden satisfaction of the season. The downside of summer is that it is also ripe for imbalances related to over-exertion and burn-out. Restorative yoga is recommended to balance and cool the body, mind, and energy systems of your being. Come rest in a cool room and enjoy the art of mindful relaxation. All levels are welcome. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
TRX Total Body Series with Geoff Tripp Thursdays 7:30-8:30am, September 7-28 (4 sessions) $30 members/$45 non-members (+tax) or Fridays 12:15-1:15pm, September 8-29 (4 sessions), $30 members/$45 non-members (+tax) Want a 55min total body functional workout? TRX total body will challenge every muscle in your body and improve muscle coordination and strength while burning calories and getting you into great shape. This class will also include a short 5-10 minute segment of interval cardio programming built around the TRX exercises. Limited to 7 participants per day.
Pre-Season Nordic Training with Laura McCabe Monday Strength: 8:30-9:45am, Sept 11-Nov 13 (9 sessions, no class 10/9), $95+tax, @ Winthrop Fitness Thursday Ski-Walking Intervals: 9:00-11:00am, Sep 14-Nov 16 (10 sessions), $115+tax, @ various outdoor locations around the valley This training is applicable beyond Nordic skiing and anyone of moderate fitness can participate!
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Sharon Cohen Thursdays, September 21-November 9 (8 weeks), 6:00-8:00pm, plus one daylong practice October 29, $175
Free Introductory Presentations—Thursdays, September 7 & 14, 6:00-7:00pm
The classic introduction to mindfulness as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Classes are a combination of practice and lecture, with guided practices in mindfulness, body awareness and gentle yoga, as well as eating, walking and mindful communication. Lectures integrate findings in science and psychology, allowing time for discussion. In the past three decades, mindfulness has become one of the most researched topics in mental health, and this course is the gold standard used in that research. Countless studies have shown it to be helpful for medical symptoms, psychological distress and managing everyday stress. MBSR is appropriate for any level of fitness.
