Meet Our Team

Pete Dickinson   Pete Dickinson, MS, PT, SCS
Physical Therapist

Pete Dickinson is a board-certified specialist in sport, with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. He applies cutting edge therapy techniques to help patients return to activity as quickly as possible. Pete’s effective approach to care led him to serve as Physical Therapist to the US Ski Team.  An athlete, teacher and coach in his own right, Pete develops and supervises strength training programs for the U.S. Forest Service and Methow Valley Nordic Team.  A strong proponent of strength training for all ages, Pete’s imprint extends from challenging "Pete Fit" athlete programs to OPEC (Old People’s Exercise Class).

Janice Dickinson   Janice Dickinson, MA
Business Manager

Janice is THE woman behind the scenes. With a Bachelor of Arts in Business and a Masters in Family Therapy, Janice has the perfect combination of skills to keep all of us in line! Janice oversees the business operation of both Winthrop Physical Therapy and Winthrop Fitness.  This includes, but is not limited to, hiring, supervising, lawn and garden maintenance, roof sweeping, plumbing, and answering any phone line beyond two rings! An ardent supporter of our community, Janice was pivotal in the launch of our ice rink and Town Trailhead, and has been a driving force in support of the Methow Nordic Ski Team.  Janice is a devoted parent to two great kids, Pete’s wife, business partner, and confidante, and the engine that drives our bus!
Lisa Sawyer   Lisa Sawyer, PT
Physical Therapist

Lisa hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland, by way of Australia, New Zealand, Kenya and England. Now married to a Methow Smoke Jumper and mom to little son Luke, we are thrilled that her roots are firmly planted right here in the Methow Valley, because she’s definitely a keeper!  Lisa has extensive training in all therapeutic disciplines including neurology, pediatrics, respiratory and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.  Highly skilled in manual therapy of the spine, Lisa’s specialty is back care and symptom management for people with spine-related injuries.

Colleen Ryan   Colleen Ryan, DPT
Physical Therapist

Colleen graduated from the University of Montana with a BS in Exercise Science, continued on to receive her doctorate in Physical Therapy, and practiced in the Seattle area until moving to the Methow Valley.  A natural athlete whose interests include “any outdoor fun”, Colleen loves bike riding, trail running, backpacking and skiing.  Colleen’s specialty is women’s health,  including pre and post-natal care and problems with incontinence.  A woman of many talents, Colleen is also one of our most popular spin instructors.

Tedra Acheson   Tedra Acheson, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant

With a Bachelors of Science in Fitness and Sports Management, Tedra went on to receive her degree from PTA school through Whatcom Community College in June of 2009.  Tedra teaches tap and jazz dance, loves figure skating and devotes her “spare time” to her triathlon training. Beyond her athletic interests and achievements, Tedra has the honorable distinction of being married to the mayor of Winthrop, whom we respectfully refer to as “Mayor Dave.”
Monica Courtney   Monika Courtney
Bookkeeper

Behind every Janice there should be a Monika!  A team since Janice moved to the Methow Valley in 1998, Monika and Janice actually finish each other’s sentences!  We love her for many reasons, not the least of which is she writes the checks. Monika was born and raised in Germany, but it’s impossible to imagine that English is actually her second language. She is our resident grammar expert, proofreader, and syntax sleuth. Not all of Monika’s skills are academic, however. A former gymnast, Monika excels at Alpine skiing and tennis, and has since added Nordic skiing to her repertoire. Monika and her husband Robert live in the house they built to go with Monika's impressive garden!

Lottie Ekblad   Lottie Ekblad
Clinical Assistant

Lottie grew up in Southern Vermont spending lots of time both Alpine and Nordic skiing. She has worked as a Sherpa guide for youth outreach programs on both the East and West Coasts, and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her family. Lottie enjoys hiking, gardening and skiing in the winter.
Lottie is also a popular instructor of our noon circuit class and assists with our Nordic dryland training program in the fall.

Patty Christensen   Patty Christensen
Front Desk Receptionist

Patty grew up in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, and worked for Rainier Mountaineering Inc. for 10 years as a manager for the guide service. She has been a Methow Valley resident since 1996. A back injury brought her to Winthrop Physical Therapy, where her winning attitude and empathy landed her a job on our team!  Patty deserves credit for making our patients and gym members feel welcome and for keeping our gym sparkling! A frequent participant in Therapeutic Yoga, noon circuit and many of our series classes, Patty is the “Go-To” girl for first-hand info on the services our gym has to offer.

Laurie Miller   Laurie Miller
Clinical Assistant
& Personal Trainer

Laurie’s engaging laugh is legendary in the clinic! Her attentiveness to your therapy program ensures that you are on track and progressing with your rehabilitation—no matter what the injury. Laurie lived in Taiwan in her youth which contributes to her broad view of the world. Laurie shares a love of horses and riding with her husband and children and is also an avid runner. Laurie is a favorite instructor for our noon circuit class.

Hannah Dewey   Hannah Dewey
Clinical Assistant and Front Desk

Hannah has lived everywhere from Colorado to Pennsylvania and finished high school in Switzerland. She has already traveled the world more than most of us ever will and still found the Methow Valley to be one of a kind.  After graduating from the University of Washington in 2008, Hannah  moved to Winthrop to become a firefighter, EMT, and helicopter rappeller.  A gifted athlete, Hannah enjoys every outdoor sport the Methow has to offer. Whether mountain biking with her boyfriend Patrick or skiing with her dog. Hannah recently returned to school to become a Physical Therapist, and works part time for Winthrop Physical Therapy.

Alison Hanks   Alison Hanks, LMP
Clinical Assistant

Alison brings a wealth of knowledge to her job in the clinic from her background as a massage therapist and a long distance athlete.  Her quiet confidence and kind smile have been the perfect addition to our therapy team.  Alison is frequently seen with her fiance, Sam Naney, running on the valley trails, training for one of her upcoming ultra marathons.  Contact her to schedule a massage at 996-3222.
